Microbial research relates to all aspects of human life. In the medical field, it includes studies on pathogens/drug-resistant bacteria and intestinal microorganisms. In the agricultural field, it includes studies on animal and plant pathogens and drug-resistant bacteria and agricultural production. In the industrial field, it includes studies on industrial microorganisms or industrial bacteria, industrial production environment and other microbial communities. The subjects of study are from individual to community. The products are in genomic, transcriptome, and protein levels, including de novo sequencing, whole genome resequencing, 16S / 18S / ITS amplicon sequencing, and metagenomic sequencing and other proteomics analysis.
BGI has initiated or participated in many large-scale microbiology research projects, including 10K microbial genome project, Metagenomics of the Human Intestinal Tract (MetaHIT), 1 million microbial ecological genome project, and Earth Microbiome Project (EMP). So far, more than 100,000 microbial samples have been sequenced, more than 350 articles have been published, and the cumulative impact factor is more than 2000. Products include:
Bacteria de novo sequencing
Bacteria whole genome resequencing
Fungi de novo sequencing
