Human Cell Atlas (HCA)

The Human Cell Atlas (HCA) project aims to map all cells in the human body in order to better understand human health and conduct disease diagnosis, monitoring and treatment research. As one of the participants of the Human Cell Atlas Project, BGI is committed to research and development of new generation of single-cell omics technologies and computational methods, and to map cell atlas of important life systems, health and disease populations. This will help provide a source of innovative foundation for cell type, disease diagnosis, cell therapy, and biological intelligence. As a part of the Human Cell Atlas Project, BGI also launched The Great Bay Alliance in Single Cell Biology (GBA-SCB), in collaboration with Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southern Medical University, Sun Yat-sen University, University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, and many other organizations from Japan, Europe, Australia, etc.. By coordinating the academic resources of universities and scientific research institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the exchange of alliance members is promoted, so as to accelerate the sharing of omics data and improve the in-depth application of single-cell sequencing technology in various biomedical fields. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Single Cell Alliance will develop into a platform for cooperation and exchanges among scientific researchers who are interested in the research, development and application of single cell technology.
