GigaScience Press (ISNI:0000 0004 7882 355X) is BGI's Open Access Publishing division, which publishes journal articles and accompanying datasets and software. This work is carried out with International publishers and infrastructure providers, including BioMed Central, Oxford University Press, River Valley Technologies, ORCID, CrossRef, CLOCKSS, and DataCite.

GigaScience
Founded in July 2012, GigaScience is dedicated to data analysis, dissemination and reuse of published research results. As a new “integrated publishing” model of an open access journal, GigaScience publishes life science and biomedical research that use "Big Data"and links these articles to their accompanying research objects. Published articles include topics that go beyond genomics and other high-throughput biology, which have data that is currently well served by public repositories. It also covers articles with difficult-to-access data types, such as imaging, neuroscience, ecology, and network data, as well as systems biology and other new types of large-scale data.
To achieve these goals, GigaScience was the first journal to adopt a novel form of publication by developing a large open database (GigaDB.org), which links and publishes all the supporting associated data and other research objects (software,workflows, etc.) to the articles. Through such technical means, the journal aims to solve the reproducibility gap that plagues scientific publishing. GigaScience has also built a Galaxy Data-based analytics platform, GigaGalaxy.net, to host computational methods and workflows; thus, maximizing the use of data in appropriate papers in an environment that is easier to access and reuse. Additionally, the journal is integrated with the protocols.io platform, allowing authors to present detailed and open access methodology in a collaborative and transparent manner. GigaScience has been selected as the 2018 Prose Awards Winner for "Innovation in Journal Publishing."

GigaByte
Launching in 2020, GigaByte is a new journal that aims to promote the most rapid exchange of scientific information in a formal peer-reviewed publishing platform. Modern research is data-driven, iterative, and aims to be FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. Given the rapid pace of data production, computational tool updates, and other rapidly evolving areas, such as novel technologies that are actively being tested and modified by the community, GigaByte is focused on publishing short descriptive reports that provide updates or ongoing adjustments in Big Data Research. With that objective, GigaByte provides scientists a venue to rapidly and easily share their work, and build upon each other’s research outputs. This increases and credits the sharing of reusable Research Objects, such as data, software and computational workflows enables the rapid dissemination and versionioning of research in an open and transparent manner. With the ultimate aim to match the speed of publishing to the speed of research.

GigaDB
GigaDB is a data publishing platform designed to link published articles with data and other research objects, supporting reproducibility and reusability. The database also includes analysis tools, such as widgets and plugins to enable interaction with these supporting datasets, and cloud computing resources. The database works with DataCite creating digital object unique identifiers (DOIs) - making the data traceable, searchable, andcitable - serving researchers around the world. Together, this moves publishing from a static to a dynamic and interactive process.
