RNA

Transcriptome sequencing is used to reveal the presence, quantity and structure of RNA in a biological sample under specific conditions. Compared to hybridization-based RNA quantification methods such as microarray analysis, sequencing-based transcriptome detection can quantify gene expression with low background, high accuracy and high levels of reproducibility within a large dynamic range. In addition, transcriptome sequencing does not require an existing genome sequence and can detect mutations, splice variants and fusion genes that cannot be detected by microarrays. Epigenomics

Epigenomics refers to the study of epigenetics modification at the genomic level. It studies the modification of non-DNA sequence changes in the context of "omics," which has led to an increase in genomic research and a new point of view: For the genome, not only the DNA sequence contains genetic information, but its modification can also record genetic information.

BGI has devoted itself to the study of epigenomics, using its powerful sequencing platform and many years of successful experience to help researchers accelerate the discovery, increase understanding of the mechanism of the epigenetic system, and have a more comprehensive understanding of gene function. Proteomics

The term proteomics, derived from the combination of protein and genomics, means "a complete set of proteins expressed in a genome," including a cell or even a biological organism. The proteome refers to the study of protein characteristics at a large scale, including protein expression levels, post-translational modifications, protein-protein interactions, etc., to gain a comprehensive understanding of the whole process of disease occurrence and cell metabolism at the protein level. This concept was first proposed by Marc Wilkins in 1995.

Mass spectrometry (MS) is the most important identification technique in proteomics. The basic principle of MS is to separate and determine the molecular weight according to the difference of Mass-charge ratio (M / Z) between different ions after the sample is ionized. Metabonomics

Metabonomics / Metabolomics is an emerging discipline developed in the mid-1990s and an important part of systems biology, founded by Professor Jeremy Nicholson of the Imperial College London in the UK. Metabonomics is the simultaneous characterization and quantitative analysis of all low molecular weight metabolites produced by an organism or cell during a specific physiological period. It is a branch of systems biology that aims at information modeling and system integration based on group index analysis, high-throughput detection and data processing.
